SGH0301   WBL Summer Internship

Internship is a Work-Based Learning experience that places the student in a real workplace environment to develop and practice career-related knowledge and bring together skills and knowledge for a specific career field related to the student’s career interests, abilities, and goals. Internships may be paid or unpaid. Meaningful and authentic connections are made to classroom learning and accompanied by structured reflection activities. Students participating in internships should achieve a minimum of 280 hours of work experience and are guided by a formal, written training plan that defines specific academic and workplace skills to be mastered. Credit for internship experiences during the summer should be based upon the student’s successful completion of the internship course and continuous, satisfactory employment throughout the summer.

Students must have completed a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course during the school year or will enroll in a summer CTE course. The internship experience should be connected to the related CTE course and align with the student’s specific academic and career plan (ACP). Student is responsible for securing an internship position with an employer. Internships will not be provided by FCPS.
