AP01000   Electrical 1

Electricians install and maintain electrical systems in homes, businesses, and commercial structures according to state and local codes. This is the first class of a comprehensive four-level curriculum that complies with DOLI standards for apprenticeship. Curriculum is nationally recognized and certified by NCCER. Level one modules include: occupational overview: the electrical industry, safety for electricians, introduction to electrical circuits, electrical theory, introduction to the National Electrical CodeĀ®, device boxes, hand bending, wireways, raceways and fittings, conductors and cables, basic electrical construction drawings, residential electrical services, and electrical test equipment.

 
* Classes meet twice a week, once in person and once virtually, for the stated hours. Mid-term and final grades are reported electronically to sponsor employers with a FERPA form on file with ACE. Payment plan applications must be received two weeks before the class start date. Registration closes at 5:00 PM on the Thursday before class begins. A laptop or tablet is highly recommended. Required textbook: Students must purchase digital or print textbook with NCCERConnect code from the NCCER bookstore and have a copy of the NEC 2020.
