A Credit-By-Exam (CBE) allows advanced placement to students with prior training similar to AP02000. These optional exams take 2 – 2.5 hours to complete and are the only option to earn credit for prior experience. Exams are NOT recommended for persons who have been in the field for several years but never attended classes as questions are based on ACE curriculum rather than field tasks. CBE's are for completion of apprenticeship related instruction only; DPOR will not accept a CBE as credit for classroom instruction hours and completion does not count towards NCCER credentialing. Exams may be taken once per calendar year and cannot be repeated if student does not earn a passing grade of 70% or higher.
